Privacy Policy

Last updated August 10, 2026

gabby is a speech-following teleprompter published by Great Ordinary. This policy explains what gabby handles when you use the iPhone and iPad app and its live transcription service.

Information gabby handles

Your script on your device

Your teleprompter script is stored locally on your device. gabby does not upload the script to its server or maintain a cloud copy of it.

Microphone audio and transcription

When you start listening, microphone audio streams from your device directly to OpenAI over an encrypted realtime connection so OpenAI can return a live transcript. gabby’s Cloudflare service creates the short-lived connection credential but does not proxy or store your microphone audio. The transcript is used on your device to follow the script and is not stored in gabby’s database.

OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models unless the API customer opts in. For the Realtime API, OpenAI may retain customer content in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days by default and does not retain application state. See OpenAI’s API data controls.

Security, usage, and purchase data

gabby processes pseudonymous installation identifiers, Apple App Attest keys and counters, short-lived session records, realtime usage totals, and basic operational logs to verify genuine app installations, prevent replay and abuse, enforce service limits, and diagnose failures. For subscriptions, gabby processes App Store transaction identifiers, product and status information, purchase and expiration dates, and a pseudonymous app-account token. gabby does not require a gabby account.

How information is used

  • Provide realtime transcription and voice-following features.
  • Protect the service, enforce usage limits, and diagnose failures.
  • Verify purchases and respond to App Store subscription changes.

Service providers

gabby uses Cloudflare for API hosting and security, OpenAI for realtime transcription, and Apple for app distribution, App Attest, and in-app purchases. These providers process information on gabby’s behalf or under their own terms where applicable. Great Ordinary does not sell personal information or use scripts, audio, or transcripts for advertising.

Retention and control

Your saved script remains on your device until you replace it or delete the app. gabby keeps pseudonymous security, usage, and subscription records only as reasonably needed to operate, protect, and account for the service. Because gabby has no user account, deleting the app does not automatically identify pseudonymous server records as yours.

You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account. Apple handles billing and refunds under its policies.

Children

gabby is not directed to children under 13, and Great Ordinary does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes and contact

This policy may change as gabby evolves. Material updates will be posted here with a new date. For privacy questions, use the developer contact on gabby’s App Store page or visit Great Ordinary.
